Well, there are only a few people who are aware of this blog, but for those who might check in, here’s an update.
The film project “A Kind of Tuning In” was shown twice this fall, once in Laguna Niguel California by Jayashree for her friends there, and once in Victoria B.C. at Yoga Together by the wonderful Eila and Liila. At the screening in Victoria, the golden-voiced Mark Dadson and I played live - a kind of Kirtan fusion.
Thank you to all who came. Your generous donations have been sent to Swami Vivekananda Kudil Children’s School in Ramesawaram, Tamil Nadu, South India.
I continue to feel the film should be edited more, and that it could evolve. Have had a notion to add some footage from here in BC which might be interesting. I think one of the most important things I learned from traveling in India is to apply some of her ways back here. Seeing how a mountain is considered sacred at Arunachala, helps me see how Cypress mountain here, is sacred too.
And acquaintance Murray suggested another idea of using some of the India footage to project while playing live for a kind multi-media show.
So there are some ideas brewing.
In other news…
Have been going through an injury this fall. A hamstring/glute/sciatica thing. Learning much through it (hopefully!). On & off the mat. Seeds. Alignment. Trigger Points. Acupuncture from the good Dr. Steinberg. Turmeric. Glucosamine. Better acceptance of things. More shamanic work. A refocusing on music.
It’s been serious enough to postpone further movement into yoga teaching, and is requiring a fair bit of time and energy - thus this website’s seeming hibernation. I will continue to post blurbs here, but probably sporadically.
Below are 2 films I’ve enjoyed this fall: Encounters at the Edge of the World and Man on Wire.
Wishing you a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and many blessings in 2009.
